  • Songs that shouldn’t be forgotten

I have decided to create this subject. I will write about songs that are great, but for some reason are forgotten or just not given the proper credit that they deserver. The list is really long and I am sure that most of you have your own opinions. This is just my take.

So here it goes with the first one. The band is Fleetwood Mac and the song is “Go your own way”.

I know it is one of their hits, but when was the last time you’ve listened to it!? The song is widely popular but for most of us it was a hit when I was born! So here is the background on it.
“Go Your Own Way” is a song written by Lindsey Buckingham and performed by Fleetwood Mac. It was the first single to be released from their highly successful album, Rumours and peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100. It is ranked number 119 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and is on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list.

Buckingham wrote this song with regard to his bandmate Stevie Nicks, with whom he had just ended a romantic relationship. It describes their breakup, with the most obvious line being, “Packing up, shacking up is all you want to do.” Nicks insisted she never shacked up with anyone when they were together, and wanted Lindsey to take out the line, but he refused.

The song was also used in the movies Casino (the part that Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro talk in the car, not the 21 F words in 2 minutes though) and Forrest Gump (jump to minute 4:12)
