Alex Proyas has his first break with The Crow. The movie stars Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee’s son) and unfortunately he died while filming a scene. Lee was killed when a dummy bullet, which had become lodged in one of the guns, was fired into his abdomen.

The movie tells the story of Eric Draven and Shelly Webster. It is Devil’s Night in Detroit and mayhem takes over the streets. That night Shelly and Eric’s apartment gets broken in and she gets raped and both of them are killed. One year later a crow awakens Eric and he is off for revenge!

The movie was widely acclaimed by the critics and I thinks is a great dark movie. The standout features of the film for most critics were the fast-paced action and visual style.
Because of Lee’s death the movie had to finish using CGI that added an extra $8M to the cost of the movie to a final production cost of $15M! Nevertheless the movie made $50M in the US and $94 Internationally, so in the end it paid off to finish it!
