I found a couple of videos that have all the same kind of idea. Use elements that produce light, shot them from really really far to simulate that they are pixels and create some cool animations.
The first one is the newest ad by Honda called “Let it Shine”. The headlights of new Honda hybrids dance ’til dawn in this engaging spot from Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam, directed by Erik van Wyk and production by South African company Bouffant and VFX by Black Ginger.

The second part of this Pixel Art post is about a bunch of Sheep Masters from Wales did. “We took to the hills of Wales armed to the teeth with sheep, LEDs and a camera, to create a huge amazing LED display. Of sorts.”
In reality is a commercial for Samsung. Brilliant.
